Lashawn Merrit on male enhancement pills

The US Olympic Team’s medal hopes were high in the 400 meter events entering the 2008 Summer Olympics. Lashawn Merritt and Jeremy Wariner were running extremely well leading up to the Olympics and looked unflappable. Wariner had been pretty dominant in the event but the tides began to shift during the Olympic trials leading up to Beijing. Merrit went on to crush Wariner at the Olympics running a personal best and winning by a second.

Merrit has recently come under fire for failing three drug tests between October 2009 and January of this year. He has already owned up to his “foolish, immature and egotistical mistake.” Merrit claims that he failed these drug tests because he was using an over the counter male enhancement product!!

He wanted to be more like this guy

Come on son. He claims that he did not read the “fine print” on the bottle which would have told him that the banned substance was in the pills he was using. His story is so outlandish that I tend to believe it. Someone would have to be pretty creative to make it up. Either way, he faces a two year ban from competing in track and field events.
